NAMES IN THE NEWS

          Hawks C DIKEMBE MUTOMBO appeared on CNBC's "Squawk Box"
     to discuss his financial investments.  Mutombo called
     himself a "defensive investor, also a conservative" one, as
     he is "careful in where I'm putting my money."  SFX Sports
     Group Exec VP CURTIS POLK stated SFX "takes a very
     conservative approach to investing [client's] money because
     we don't know how quickly [their career] might end."  Polk:
     "We work very closely with the clients, particularly in
     their first year, to concentrate more on budgeting than
     traditional money managing as far as investing.  I think
     it's much more important for our clients to understand how
     important it is to save a dollar" ("Squawk Box," CNBC,
     8/21)....A scene for "SUMMER CATCH," a movie set for a
     spring 2001 release, was filmed at Cinergy Field before
     yesterday's Phillies-Reds game.  The movie tells the story
     of a "struggling pitcher," played by FREDDY PRINZE JR., who
     "finally makes it to the big leagues" with the Phillies. 
     The first batter the character faces is Reds OF KEN GRIFFEY
     JR.  Filming took about 90 minutes (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER,
     8/22)....On "ET," Jann Carl reported that Cowboys RB EMMITT
     SMITH married actress and former Miss VA PATRICIA SOUTHHALL. 
     Carl stated, "A 24-member wedding party surrounded the
     couple as they exchanged vows," along with the 580 invited
     guests ("Entertainment Tonight," 8/21)....Celebrities
     participating in the fifth annual ARTHUR ASHE KIDS' DAY this
     Saturday at the USTA National Tennis Center include CHEVY
     CHASE, ALEC BALDWIN, JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT, singing group 98
     DEGREES and singer JESSICA SIMPSON (USTA).
