DISNEY HEADS BACK TO COURT TO REQUEST NEW TRIAL ON COMPLEX

Ten days after receiving a $240M jury verdict for
"stealing the idea behind its Wide World of Sports Complex,"
Disney filed a motion on Monday for a new trial, according
to Richard Verrier of the ORLANDO SENTINEL. Disney's motion
claimed that attorneys for All Pro Sports business execs
Nicholas Stracick and Edward Russell "improperly swayed
jurors through a 'populist rhetoric and anti-business
prejudice'" by casting Disney as a "big corporation
trampling on the little guys." Meanwhile, Disney also filed
a motion to reduce the jury award to "anywhere from" $30,000
to $2.6M. But All Pro Sports asked the court to order
Disney to pay up to $5M in attorneys fees and to triple the
total damages against Disney to $720M. Verrier writes that
despite Disney's filing, "It could be months before a
hearing on the motions is scheduled" (ORL. SENTINEL, 8/22).
