MILLER MAKES SECOND "MNF" APPEARANCE MEMORABLE FOR MANY

Dennis Miller made his second "MNF" appearance last
night with ABC's coverage of Rams-Titans. At the opening of
the broadcast, ABC's Al Michaels introduced Miller by
     saying, "Here's a guy who won't be a one-year wonder. This
is the beginning of our own dynasty." Miller: "It's so loud
in here, Al, I'm not sure I can hear myself not thinking
     clearly" (THE DAILY).
MILLER PLUGGED: The following is a sampling of Miller's
comments during last night's game. Miller, on Titans WR
Carl Pickens: "The Bengals stripes were prison stripes for
Pickens and now he gets to kick the warden's butt twice a
year." Miller, after a shot of Titans Owner Bud Adams was
shown: "The [Adelphia Coliseum] field is real grass -- do
you think that was artificial turf we saw there?" Miller,
after a ref threw a penalty flag, noted Browns OL Orlando
Brown retained attorney Johnnie Cochran after sustaining an
eye injury last year by a referee's penalty flag: "You
notice the refs are a lot more accurate with where they're
throwing the flag this year as the specter of Johnnie
Cochran hovers." Miller, on Titans and former Rams OT Fred
Miller: "He had six false starts in the regular season
against 'The Freak' [Titans DE Jevon Kearse] last year --
that's more than Linford Christie on a triple espresso."
Miller, on Titans offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger:
"People ask me where I'm going to draw the line, vis-a-vis
taste, with my humor this year. I'm going to draw it right
on this side of the name Heimerdinger." Miller, on the
Rams' new uniforms: "The Rams [uniforms] are nice but I'm
not sure I would have changed anything after last year."
Michaels replied: "The deal is if you change the uniforms
then they're in the stores and more people will buy them and
that's why teams are changing uniforms about every 11
weeks." Miller: "Al, you're not telling me that money is at
ground zero of this decision?" Michaels replied, "Yes, I
am." Miller called it "raw, exposed commerce." Miller
later said: "Nice to be here in Nashville. I got out today
and saw some of the local color. Went over and visited the
sequin mines and it's just a beautiful operation." Miller,
on the atmosphere at Adelphia Coliseum: "The Titans fill
every one of these commercial breaks with something great
for the fans. I mean, it's really like an NBA game."
Miller repeated his previous game closer: "Start blow-drying
Teddie's hair, this one's done folks" (THE DAILY).
