NAMES IN THE NEWS

          INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE in East Naples, FL, has "teamed
     up with" the U.S. SPORTS ACADEMY, a private sports
     management college in AL, "to provide an online business
     management bachelor's degree to athletes, from the pros to
     Olympic amateurs."  The Academy has "already begun
     discussions" with the Dolphins and Saints about helping
     their players "complete unfinished degrees" (NAPLES DAILY
     NEWS, 7/27)....Racecar team owner CHIP GANASSI "apparently
     signed a sales agreement several months ago to purchase" the
     estate of H.J. Heinz Chair ANTHONY O'REILLY near Pittsburgh. 
     O'Reilly's house is "believed to be close" to the $2.4M
     asking price (Pittsburgh TRIBUNE-REVIEW, 7/28)....STEINER
     SPORTS MARKETING has acquired PASTIME PRODUCTIONS, which was
     previously owned solely by STEVE HISLER (Steiner).....Cameos
     on this week's episode of HBO's "ARLI$$" (Sunday, 9:30pm ET)
     include Time Warner Sports President SETH ABRAHAM, Yankees P
     DENNY NEAGLE and Redskins DL BRUCE SMITH (THE DAILY)...NBC's
     Jay Leno, on DARRYL STRAWBERRY: "[SI] reported that Darryl
     has joined a swingers sex club in Florida."  Leno then
     displayed Strawberry's "new" baseball card.  On the back of
     the card, it said - "Position: Missionary; Throws: Left; and
     Swings; Both ways" ("Tonight Show," NBC, 7/27).
