WILD DIDN'T HAVE TO GO FAR TO SIGN UP NEARBY WELLS FARGO

In an attempt to "increase exposure to its new
corporate name," Wells Fargo & Co., formerly Norwest Corp.,
has agreed to a five-year sponsorship deal becoming one of
the Wild's four "founding partners," according to Melissa
Levy of the Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE. Under the deal, Wells
Fargo "will be the only bank allowed to market and promote
its association" with the Wild. The bank will have an in-
ice logo, signage on the scoreboard and boards surrounding
the ice, and on the ATM units at Xcel Energy Center. Levy
notes that Wells Fargo "was even more interested in aligning
itself" with the Wild's hockey outreach efforts, such as the
team's mid-August caravan that will take players and
broadcasters around MN. The bank will receive game tickets
that it can distribute at its branches throughout the state.
Wells Fargo Banking Group Sponsorship & Special Events
Manager Lisa Billingham, on that part of the deal: "Their
community program was the part of the (sponsorship) package
that was most appealing to us" (STAR TRIBUNE, 7/18). Per
club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed (Wild).
