MARKETPLACE ROUND-UP

REEBOK LIKES "SURVIVOR" LINK: B.B. Anderson and Stacey
Stillman, "exiles" from CBS' "Survivor", have "found new
gigs: pitching shoes" for series sponsor Reebok. Their TV
spot will "begin airing soon" (USA TODAY, 7/11).
NOTES: In Philadelphia, Phil Jasner cited 76ers Senior
VP Dave Coskey as saying that the team has "climbed from No.
29" in NBA apparel sales four years ago to No. 3, "trailing
only" the Lakers and Knicks (PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS, 7/9).
...In Ft. Lauderdale, Jeffrey Zbar examined the research
work of FL-based Sports & Sponsorships. One element
"central to" its 55-page proposal for a new sponsor for Pro
Player Stadium is a "new quarterly statistical study of
sports fans' attitudes and loyalties nationwide." As part
of an agreement with TNS Intersearch, Sports & Sponsorships
can insert 15-20 questions each quarter into the ESPN Sports
     Poll (Ft. Lauderdale SUN-SENTINEL, 7/8)....USA TODAY's Chris
Jenkins writes on virtual advertising and notes that
"several companies have tried to sell the NBA and NHL on the
idea" of virtual signage, but "to no avail." NBA President
of New Media & TV Ventures Ed Desser: "With all due respect
to the (auto) racing industry, we don't want our telecasts
to look like race cars" (USA TODAY, 7/11)....Players Inc,
the marketing arm of the NFLPA, has signed a deal for
Wizards of the Coast to create and market an original
collectible card game, to be released next year (NFLPA).
