NAMES IN THE NEWS

          HASKELL COHEN, the NBA's publicist for 19 years, died
     of a heart attack Tuesday night at the age of 86 (Mult.,
     6/29)....WV-based Brant Motorsports President TED BRANT died
     of a heart attack yesterday at the age of 53.  Brant
     Motorsports plans to begin construction on a $300M indoor
     racetrack near Pittsburgh this year (AP, 6/29)....DAN MARINO
     and his wife, CLAIRE, have listed their 13,278-square-foot
     "Mediterranean-style mansion" in Weston, FL, for $8M.  The
     home sits on 4.3 acres of land (MIAMI HERALD, 6/29)....In
     N.Y., Filip Bondy writes of the "romances" between players
     on the Sanex WTA and ATP Tours, including MARTINA HINGIS and
     MAGNUS NORMAN.  Bondy: "All tennis romances are doomed.  And
     yet, they stubbornly spring up around the [Wimbledon]
     grounds like potted flowers waiting to be clipped." 
     Journalist BUD COLLINS: "No tennis romances work.  Maybe
     Andre's [Agassi] has a chance, because Steffi [Graf] already
     quit" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 6/29).....NBC's Hoda Kotbe previewed
     People's upcoming issue featuring "America's 100 Most
     Eligible Bachelors."  Yankees SS DEREK JETER was named the
     second most eligible bachelor.   Others on the list include
     Lions WR JOHNNIE MORTON, Cardinals 1B MARK MCGWIRE, golfer
     CASEY MARTIN and Mariners SS ALEX RODRIGUEZ (NBC, 6/28).

TNT’s Stan Van Gundy, ESPN’s Tim Reed, NBA Playoffs and NFL Draft

On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with TNT’s Stan Van Gundy as he breaks down the NBA Playoffs from the booth.
