The Blue Jackets have signed a multiyear deal making OH-based CoreComm the team's telecom partner and the provider of telecom services at Nationwide Arena and the Arena District. Also under the deal, the team's practice facility, which will be open to the public and offer access to youth hockey, figure skating and public skating, will be called the CoreComm Ice Haus (Blue Jackets). ASK JEEVES AT STAPLES CENTER: AMG Sports brokered a two-year deal for Ask Jeeves' "animated butler logo," named "Jeeves," to ask trivia questions on the Jumbotron at Staples Center during Lakers games (ADWEEK ONLINE, 6/28). A Harris Sports Poll shows that Lakers merchandise accounted for 40% of NBA merchandise purchased over the Internet in May. The Knicks (25%), Spurs (23%), Kings (5%) and Hawks (5%) rounded out the top five, while the Pacers accounted for 2% of sales (USA TODAY, 6/29). WNBA GETS REFRESHED: The WNBA formally announced Diet Coke and Dasani as the league's Official Soft Drink and Bottled Water, respectively (see THE DAILY, 6/13). Under the multiyear deal, both brands will receive ad time during league broadcasts on NBC, ESPN and Lifetime, as well as local TV spots, on-court signage and presence on WNBA.com. The brands receive use of league, team and All-Star Game marks, and will also participate in fan events at the All- Star Game next month in Phoenix (WNBA).
