N.Y. INVESTMENT FIRM INTERESTED IN MUTINY ALONG WITH UNITED

N.Y.-based investment firm E.M. Warburg, Pincus and
Co., which "is expected to pay" $25-30M to buy operating
rights to the MLS United, "also is seeking to control" the
Mutiny, which has been operated by the league since its
inception in '96, according to sources cited by Steven Goff
of the WASHINGTON POST. If the deal goes through, the firm
would become the fourth investor to oversee more than one
MLS team. With two teams, the firm "would bring much needed
cash" to MLS and leave the Burn as the only team without a
     direct investor-operator (WASHINGTON POST, 6/28).
