of FSN's "National Sports Report" led with a 4:10 report
from Wimbledon, followed by a report on trade talks
involving Tigers OF Juan Gonzalez and Cubs OF Sammy Sosa.
"NSR" had 6:21 of total Wimbledon coverage. Last night's
11:00pm ET 30-minute edition of CNN/SI's "Sports Tonight"
led with Cardinals-Reds, followed by a 3:08 report from
Wimbledon. "Sports Tonight" had 5:54 of total Wimbledon
coverage. Last night's 11:00pm ET 60-minute edition of
ESPN's "SportsCenter" led with Cardinals-Reds, followed by
Tigers-Indians. The first Wimbledon report was at 7:34 into
the broadcast, with 2:38 of total coverage (THE DAILY).
NOTES: USA TODAY's Skip Wood writes that the NHRA will
announce a five-year exclusive broadcast TV rights deal with
ESPN today (USA TODAY, 6/27).... The AP reports that the NFL
is testing the "Umpire-Cam" for NFL games this fall. The
camera was affixed to the cap of one of the officials during
Sunday's NFL Europe World Bowl. NFL Commissioner Paul
Tagliabue, on the technology: "I think it's going to work
well" (Mult., 6/27). Meanwhile, the use of the helmet cam
and umpire cam on NFL.com helped boost traffic more than
250% to NFLEurope.com and 80% to NFL.com compared to last
year's game (NFL)....Flyers COO Ron Ryan, on WIP host Mike
Missanelli being suspended for two days for being critical
of the team (see THE DAILY, 6/23): "We don't have a problem
with them criticizing how we run the team. It's the
personal attacks we don't want. ... For some reason,
(Missanelli) seems to enjoy teeing off on me and when that
