RESOLUTION ON LAMBEAU FIELD NAMING RIGHTS PRESENTED BY MAYOR

The possibility that naming rights to Lambeau Field
will be "put up for sale ... gained momentum Tuesday,"
according to Don Walker of the MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL.
Green Bay Mayor Paul Jadin, after "lengthy negotiations"
with Packers execs, unveiled a resolution that "paves the
way for the naming rights to be sold." Highlights of the
resolution show that neither the city nor the Packers "can
change the name of the stadium without consent of the
other"; Once the amount of the public debt goes below $100M,
the Packers "would agree to begin a 'request for proposal'
process to determine the value of selling naming rights;" If
both the city and the team agree to sell the naming rights
the proceeds "shall be allocated between them in such
proportions as fairly represents the respective
contributions of each to the value of the naming rights or
as shall otherwise be mutually agreed." The city would use
its portion to reduce the debt from bonds or loans sold as
part of the $295M renovation plan for Lambeau Field. Walker
writes that the development of the resolution "represents a
significant move by the team to win public support" for a
renovated Lambeau Field (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 6/21).
