MEDIA NOTES

          TV MONITOR: Last night's 10:00pm ET 60-minute edition
     of FSN's "National Sports Report" led with NASCAR's Winston
     Cup Pocono 500, followed by a report that Lenny Wilkens will
     be named Raptors coach and a second quarter score update of
     Game Six of the Pacers-Lakers NBA Finals.  The first MLB
     report, at 6:18 into the broadcast, was Pirates-Expos.  Last
     night's 11:00pm ET 30-minute edition of CNN/SI's "Sports
     Tonight" led with Yankees-Red Sox, followed by an injury
     update on Yankees P Orlando Hernandez and Braves-Phillies. 
     The first non-MLB report, at 5:06, was reaction to Tiger
     Woods' U.S. Open victory.  The first report on the Pocono
     500 was at 15:08.  Last night's 11:30pm ET 60-minute edition
     of ESPN's "SportsCenter" led with Yankees-Red Sox, followed
     by Indians-White Sox and the Pocono 500 (THE DAILY).      
          OTHER NOTES: Brent Musburger, on broadcasting games:
     "People are always accusing me because I get enthusiastic
     about being pro this team or that. ... They don't
     understand.  I really don't care.  Just give me a good game,
     ... don't you dare give me a bad game, then I get bored"
     ("Up Close," ESPN, 6/19)....BRANDWEEK's Terry Lefton writes,
     "With the acquisition of NCAA marketing rights anticipated
     by the end of the summer, ISL is now negotiating for the
     purchase of some or all of sports publishing and marketing
     agency PSP, N.Y." (BRANDWEEK, 6/19 issue)....In AZ, Jim
     Gintonio reports that "for the first time in their history,"
     the NFL Cardinals' home and away games will be broadcast on
     Spanish-language radio station KPHX-AM.  Cardinals
     VP/Marketing & Sales Ron Minegar said that a "prime
     objective is to raise the team's profile in the
     marketplace."  Minegar: "We're also trying to make a
     connection with fans out there in all kinds of different
     segments" (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 6/20)....In Chicago, Jim Kirk
     reports that White Sox ratings on FSN are averaging a 1.8
     rating, up 64% from last year (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 6/20).
