ON THE BLOCK: MILE HIGH STADIUM NAMING RIGHTS UP FOR SALE

The Metropolitan Football Stadium Board (MFSB)
yesterday voted to "sell naming rights" to the new Broncos
stadium, according to Kevin Flynn of the ROCKY MOUNTAIN
NEWS, who reports that the MFSB "rejected keeping" the name
Mile High Stadium and "accepted a staff recommendation to
seek bids from corporate sponsors." The MFSB also "reserved
the option" to keep Mile High as "part of a hyphenated name"
along with that of a corporate sponsor. The MFSB "believes"
that a naming rights deal "could fetch" between $52-89M
(ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS, 6/16). Also in Denver, Cindy Brovsky
cites a Broncos official as saying that about ten companies,
including some from CO, "had contacted" the team about
naming rights. The MFSB "will choose the final bid," but
the Broncos "plan to package all of their advertising
rights" with the district "to increase the overall revenue."
MFSB Exec Dir Tim Romani: "Pursuing the naming rights is the
reasonable and responsible thing to do" (DENVER POST, 6/16).
