ARE FOX/NBC "AT ODDS" WITH NASCAR OVER PARTS OF NEW TV DEAL?

There are "indications" that NASCAR TV partners Fox and
NBC "may be at odds" with NASCAR officials "over some key
parts" of its TV deal that they signed last November,
according to sources of Mike Mulhern of the WINSTON-SALEM
JOURNAL, who writes that execs "at the negotiating tables
apparently left a few major loose ends." Mulhern: "That may
be one reason for the curious delay in the development of
The NASCAR Channel," scheduled to debut in February 2001.
Mulhern: "There seems to be a major disagreement over who
actually owns all the NASCAR historical footage." Sources
"expect things to come to a head [on the issue] during the
next seven to 10 days" (WINSTON-SALEM JOURNAL, 6/15).
