THE DRAIN OF THE WEB SITE LEADS TO SALE AT MAMMOTH GOLF

With its four golf properties "on the sales block, just
how mammoth Mammoth Sports Group will look at month's end
remains to be seen," according to Ryan Herrington of GOLF
WORLD BUSINESS. Execs of the MD-based company confirmed
that Mammothgolf.com, along with the "recently acquired"
Austad's golf catalogue, its 10,000-square-foot retail store
and its component club business are being "aggressively
shopped." Speaking for Mammoth Sports, William Nixon,
President of Nixon & Associates PR, said that "the decision
to sell the properties is necessary to address mounting debt
accumulated by Mammothgolf.com during the last several
months as the nascent Internet retailer tried to develop its
brand name." Selling the other three companies, all of
which are profitable, would "allow the company to meet its
obligations with Mammothgolf.com's group of primarily
private investors and vendors and then allow it to be
purchased by a new, secure owner." A sale of the divisions
could occur in two weeks (GOLF WORLD BUSINESS, 6/14).
