MEDIA NOTES

          TV MONITOR: Last night's 10:00pm ET 60-minute edition
     of FSN's "National Sports Report" led with Cardinals-Padres,
     followed by trade rumors surrounding Cubs RF Sammy Sosa and
     the Raptors firing coach Butch Carter.  "NSR" reported on
     RDV Senior VP Julius Erving's missing son, Cory, at 29:36
     into the broadcast.  Last night's 11:00pm ET 30-minute
     edition of CNN/SI's "Sports Tonight" led with Red Sox-
     Yankees, followed by White Sox-Indians and Sosa trade
     rumors.  The first non-MLB report, at 8:42, was the firing
     of Carter.  "Sports Tonight" reported on Erving's missing
     son at 14:01.  Last night's 11:00pm ET 60-minute edition of
     ESPN's "SportsCenter" led with Red Sox-Yankees, followed by
     White Sox-Indians and Braves-Pirates.  The first non-MLB
     report, at 8:01, was the firing of Carter. "SportsCenter"
     reported on Erving's missing son at 13:58.  The Erving
     family's public request for help to find their missing son
     was noted on CBS "Evening News" at 20:14 into the broadcast
     and on "NBC Nightly News" at 15:19.  ABC's "World News
     Tonight" did not report on the Erving story (THE DAILY).
          ENGLAND IN LOVE WITH PRINCE ALBERT? On CBS' "Late Show"
     last night, Marv Albert discussed his coverage of Wimbledon
     for Turner Sports.  Albert: "[It will be a] little bit
     different than the fast-paced action."  Letterman: "You
     don't know nothing about tennis, do you?" (CBS, 6/13). 
          STERLING SHARPE, CALL YOUR AGENT IMMEDIATELY: USA
     TODAY's Rudy Martzke writes, "With ABC having difficultly
     making contact with Sterling Sharpe, it appears Sharpe's
     'MNF' prospect have evaporated" (USA TODAY, 6/14).  L.A.
     KTLA-WB morning co-host Carlos Amezcua told the HOLLYWOOD
     REPORTER that he is "being considered and has been
     interviewed" for an "MNF" role by ABC producers.  Amezcua:
     "I'm thrilled that they would even talk to me."  Amezcua
     "would be the first Latino to host a national broadcast of
     such magnitude" (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 6/14).
