THE BLUEGRASS IS GETTING GREENER FOR NEW KENTUCKY SPEEDWAY

As Kentucky Speedway prepares for its opening this
Saturday with a NASCAR Craftsman Truck series race, the
CINCINNATI ENQUIRER's John Eckberg writes that "dozens" of
local and national companies have signed marketing deals
with the facility. The track has recently signed the Univ.
of KY to provide medical treatment at the track and Racing
Electronics as its official radio. The speedway also named
Tom Stinnett the "official recreational vehicle supplier,"
and Cincinnati Bell as the "official telephone company."
Eckberg reports that all 44 billboards at the track have
been sold and tunnel signage is also sold out. Of the 44
billboards, 22 trackside boards sold for 20,000 each, while
22 outside boards went for $10,000 each. The 14 tunnel
signs went for $10,000 each. Also, the IRL has "bought the
entire Turn 3 wall for the next three years at $20,000 a
year." Track officials are estimating a crowd of 70,000 for
     Saturday's race (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER, 6/13).
