The Wild gained approval from the Minneapolis Parks &
Rec Department (MPRD) Wednesday to hold training camp and
some practices at the Parade Ice Garden in Minneapolis,
according to Stassen-Berger & Sell of the ST. PAUL PIONEER
PRESS. The team will pay the MPRD $25,000, "which is what
the commission says it would get in revenue for that time
period [the team will use the facility] over the course of
the season." The Wild "is still looking for a long-term
solution" and "has considered" other sites for training camp
and practices for days when their new St. Paul arena is
being used for other events (ST. PAUL PIONEER PRESS, 5/18).
DRINK OF THE WILD: In Minneapolis, Tom Jones that the
Wild also reached a corporate partnership agreement with
league partner A-B yesterday, as Bud Light was named as the
team's official beer. The deal includes arena signage,
sponsorship of "one of the two" Zambonis and promotions when
players interact with fans at the Arena Brew Pub
(Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 5/18). In St. Paul, Charley
Walters writes that the Bud Light deal "is expected to be
worth nearly" $1M per year (ST. PAUL PIONEER PRESS, 5/18).
