TodaysSports.com has extended its partnership with the
Sharks for the 2000-01 season. The company will continue to
provide hockey news on the team's official Web site, located
at www.sjsharks.com, and will be promoted on Sharks radio,
online, in print and through promotions (TodaysSports.com).
WEB EXPOS-URE: BLOOMBERG NEWS's Rick Westhead reported
that the Expos, who are without a radio rights deal and are
instead broadcasting games on the Internet, "are drawing
almost twice as many English listeners" than last year. The
team is averaging about 15,000 listeners for the first 10
games broadcast in English, up from the approximately 8,000
listeners CIQC had last season. Expos Dir of Broadcasting
Marc Griffin said that the team is "currently developing" an
ad rate card for the Web broadcasts and "plan[s] to sell ad
time" during the next two weeks (BLOOMBERG NEWS, 5/11).
NOTES: ESPN.com was awarded the Webby Award in the
sports category last night in S.F. (S.F. CHRONICLE,
5/12)....GOLFWORLD notes the lack of Web coverage of Tiger
Woods' decision to honor the ongoing SAG strike by not
shooting a Nike ad. Most golf Web sites, "newshungry as they
are, made scant mention of" the news (GOLFWORLD, 5/12).
