          In Cincinnati, Neil Schmidt reports that Bengals' first
     round draft pick WR PETER WARRICK, after dropping SFX
     Sports, has signed with agent NORM NIXON, representing
     Nixon's "biggest client" thus far (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER,
     4/27)....Browns OL ORLANDO BROWN, whose right eye was
     injured last season by an official's flag, has retained
     attorney JOHNNIE COCHRAN for a possible lawsuit against the
     NFL.  Cochran "will spend the next couple of weeks
     investigating" the incident to determine whether Brown
     should file suit (AKRON BEACON JOURNAL, 4/27). In
     Philadelphia, Mike Bruton: "Just the mention of Cochran's
     name in the same sentence with Brown and lawsuit probably
     produced major anxiety at the NFL office" (PHILADELPHIA
     INQUIRER, 4/27)....The GOP held a fundraiser in Washington,
     DC, last night which raised a record $21.3M, and USA TODAY
     reports that Reds Majority Owner CARL LINDNER was an event
     co-chair, and pledged to raise $250,000 to help Republicans
     get elected this fall (USA TODAY, 4/27)....Vikings Owner RED
     MCCOMBS will be honored today in Dallas by the NFLPA of
     Dallas as the Sportsman of the Year.  Cowboys Owner JERRY
     JONES will present the award (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE,
     4/27).....NASCAR Winston Cup driver DALE EARNHARDT JR. is
     profiled in ROLLING STONE by Toure, who calls him a "rock &
     roll driver" and writes that "people see in him a kid from
     the MTV generation invading one of America's most stubborn
     subcultures" (ROLLING STONE, 5/11 issue).  Meanwhile,
     Earnhardt Jr. is scheduled to appear alongside NHRA driver
     KENNY BERNSTEIN at the NYSE on May 4 as part of "Anheuser-
     Busch Day," marking the company's 20th anniversary on the
     stock exchange (NHRA)....BOB COSTAS' "Fair Ball: A Fan's
     Case For Baseball," is No. 78 on USA TODAY's Best Selling
     List, while Nets C JAYSON WILLIAMS' "Loose Balls: Easy
     Money, Hard Fouls, Cheap Laughs & True Love In The NBA" is
     No. 195 (USA TODAY, 4/27)....Purdue Univ.'s men's basketball
     coach GENE KEADY appeared on the "Late Show" last night and
     presented his "TOP TEN TIPS FOR LOOKING YOUR BEST."  No. 10)
     Shake head violently.  If a single hair moves -- keep
     spraying; No. 9) You can find some snazzy ties in the
     stadium lost and found; No. 7) Yelling at your players makes
     your face purple -- that's sort of like having a tan; No. 6) 
     Tight pants highlight the fact that you're a member of the
     "Big Ten";  No. 4) I live by one simple rule -- try to look
     better than Dick Vitale; No. 3) On special occasions, I like
     to use a little eyeliner; No. 2) Never, under any
