MARKETPLACE ROUND-UP

Anaheim-based Pacific Sunwear of California has signed
on as a sponsor of the next three X Games -- Summer 2000,
Winter 2001 and Summer 2001. PacSun sponsored the 2000
Winter X Games held in VT (PacSun)....MN-based Imani Sports
will handle the endorsement and contract representation for
former Univ. of CT G Khalid El-Amin and former Univ. of
     Tulsa C Brandon Kurtz (Imani).
RACIN': In CA, Marcia Smith wrote that as Atlanta-based
Home Depot "discovered" with its three-year primary
sponsorship deal with Joe Gibbs Racing's No. 20 Pontiac
driven by Tony Stewart, Winston Cup car sponsorships are
"complex personal as well as" business relationships. While
primary sponsorships of Winston Cup cars range from $3-15M,
Home Depot invests "nearly" $10M annually, or about 2% of
its ad budget, for its deal with Gibbs/Stewart (ORANGE
COUNTY REGISTER, 4/26)....In Richmond, Mike Harris writes,
"Much of the NHRA landscape changed in the off-season when
sponsorship dollars started drying up at a higher rate than
usual. Sponsors coming and going is a ritual of racing.
[But] this year, it seems, many more have gone than have
come into drag racing" (RICHMOND TIMES-DISPATCH, 4/27).
