NEW BALANCE SAYS IT'S READY TO LEAPFROG REEBOK AND ADIDAS

New Balance CEO Jim Davis said that the shoe company is
"poised to grab more market share this year, potentially
passing both" adidas and Reebok to take the number two slot
in U.S. sales, according to Jennifer Allen of BRIDGE NEWS.
Davis said that New Balance is "on track to increase
worldwide sales this year about" 30% to $1.1-1.2B Davis:
"We probably will pick up some market share this year ...
probably a little from everybody. We could conceivably
displace Reebok and adidas [in U.S. sales by the end of
2000]." Meanwhile, Davis added that New Balance has no
plans to go public, and the company's products will not be
sold through Internet retailer Fogdog Sports because Nike
has an investment in the company (BRIDGE NEWS, 4/25).
