FACILITY NOTES

In FL, Noah Bierman writes that the Marlins are putting
off legislative action on their ballpark proposal for at
least a year. The team is now "asking for a study panel
that would look for" the $320M in financing team Owner John
Henry says he needs for the ballpark (P.B. POST, 4/19)....In
Detroit, Joe Falls notes that only 21,632 tickets were sold
for the Red Sox-Tigers game at Comerica Park last night,
meaning "there were 18,000 or less in the place, or more
empty seats than filled seats. Who thought such a thing
would happen in the first home stand of the new stadium?"
The Tigers' record during the homestand fell to 3-4 after
last night's loss (DETROIT NEWS, 4/19)....Deloitte & Touche
estimated that a domed stadium in Birmingham, AL, "would
generate" $100M in annual economic benefits for the city and
around 3,000 jobs within five years (WALL ST JOURNAL, 4/19).
