Bulls rookie F Elton Brand and G Ron Artest are
featured in a new TV commercial for the team, via DiMeo &
Co., that broke this past weekend and will run through the
summer, according to George Lazarus of the CHICAGO TRIBUNE.
The spot, entitled "No Quit," shows Brand and Artest
"working out late at night alone in an old gymnasium" and
closes with the Bulls' season-ticket phone number (CHICAGO
TRIBUNE, 4/17). Also in Chicago, Elliott Harris examines
Brand's marketability and writes that Brand "wouldn't mind
taking" Michael Jordan's "place" in the endorsement scene.
Brand: "I would like to get to that point and be as
business-savvy as he was, definitely." Brand, on his
endorsement deal with Chicagoland Chevrolet dealers (see THE
DAILY, 4/7): "It's not just a car-type trade. I'll actually
do some things in the community together, Elton Brand and
Chevy. The car, a Tahoe, was just part of the contract. ...
Actually, I have a Corvette coming, too, so that'll be fun"
(CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 4/18). TBS' Hubie Brown gave Brand his
"Hubie" Rookie of the Year award during last night's NBA
coverage. Host Ernie Johnson then displayed a box of "Elton
Brand" laundry detergent, part of the Bulls' package
promoting his Rookie of the Year campaign (TBS, 4/17).
