Former Univ. of WI RB and '99 Heisman Trophy winner Ron
Dayne, a projected first-round pick in this weekend's NFL
Draft, is "starting to appear on the endorsement scene,"
according to Brad Hoeschen of the BUSINESS JOURNAL OF
MILWAUKEE. While Dayne has been "quiet since" he signed an
endorsement deal "to put his exercise routine on the
Internet" shortly after his team won the Rose Bowl, he
"started a campaign" last month with Russ Darrow auto
dealers in WI and IL, in which he is "giving autographed
footballs to every new car buyer." Dayne will also be
featured in the packaging and will "consult on the making"
of a new football video game from 989 Sports and is "also
working on a memorabilia deal" with Upper Deck. WI-based
SMG Dir of Football Brian Lammi, who represents Dayne:
"There are a lot of companies that have expressed interest,
but they wanted to wait until after the draft when they knew
where he would be going. What they like is that he is a
lunch pail guy, and that will appeal to a lot of people"
(BUSINESS JOURNAL OF MILWAUKEE, 4/10 issue).
