MEDIA NOTES

          TV MONITOR: Last night's 10:00pm ET edition of FSN's
     "Fox Sports News" led with Reds-Rockies, followed by Braves-
     Cubs and Cardinals-Astros.  The first non-MLB report on "Fox
     Sports News," at 8:42 into the broadcast, was Heat-76ers. 
     Last night's 11:00pm ET edition of CNN/SI's "Sports Tonight"
     led with Heat-76ers, followed by Pacers-Knicks.  The first
     MLB report on "Sports Tonight," at 4:13, was Reds-Rockies. 
     Last night's 11:00pm ET edition of ESPN's "SportsCenter" led
     with Reds-Rockies, followed by Braves-Cubs and Cardinals-
     Astros.  The first non-MLB report on "SportsCenter," at
     8:20, was Pacers-Knicks (THE DAILY). 
          NOTES: In Winston-Salem, Mike Mulhern writes that if
     NASCAR and its track promoters "are becoming understandably
     perturbed about TV's lack of interest in promoting Winston
     Cup events," then why don't they "buy some television ads of
     their own?"  SMI President Humpy Wheeler: "They are
     prohibitively expensive, from $100,000 to $200,000 to
     $300,000" (WINSTON-SALEM JOURNAL, 4/11)....In Toronto, Chris
     Zelkovich notes that Games Two and Three of the Senators-
     Maple Leafs playoff series will be carried on ESPN and ESPN2
     and writes, "While this isn't the first all-Canadian series
     ESPN has aired, it is a rarity."  ESPN Programming Manager
     Gary Morgenstern: "Our goal is to show at least one game
     from each of the matchups.  We believe hockey fans in the
     States will be very interested in the series" (TORONTO STAR,
     4/11). ...A new season of "Talking Baseball" debuted on MSG
     Sunday night.  The show will be back for 26 editions, which
     will put the total number of "Talking Baseball" shows over
     500 dating back to '88 (THE DAILY)....SportsTicker will
     provide women's basketball news and info to
     theHoopslink.com, an online news site dedicated to women's
     basketball (THE DAILY). Meanwhile, ChicagoSports.com will
     offer Hometown Report, SportsTicker's new local sports
     statistical information product (AD AGE, 4/11).

TNT’s Stan Van Gundy, ESPN’s Tim Reed, NBA Playoffs and NFL Draft

On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with TNT’s Stan Van Gundy as he breaks down the NBA Playoffs from the booth. Later in the show, we hear from ESPN’s VP of Programming and Acquisitions Tim Reed as the NFL Draft gets set to kick off on Thursday night in Motown.
