THE PASSION PLAY: EISNER SAYS HE CARES TOO MUCH ABOUT ANGELS

Walt Disney Chair Michael Eisner "took exception" to
recent comments made by Anaheim Sports President Tony
Tavares, who said that Eisner is not passionate about owning
the Angels (see THE DAILY, 3/31), according to Mike
Digiovanna of the L.A. TIMES. Eisner, who attended Sunday's
Angels game at Edison Field, said that he spoke to Tavares
about his quotes. Eisner, on Tavares: "He told me [his
comments] were taken out of context, that they weren't true.
I wouldn't stay up until 2 or 3 a.m. (in New York) to watch
the Angels if I wasn't passionate about them. ... I have too
much passion, not too little passion." Tavares said that
Eisner would sell the team if he received the "right offer,"
a statement Eisner "did not dispute." Eisner: "We love
having this team. But we're a public company, and we can't
take the position that we'd never sell. We have to do what
makes the most sense for shareholders" (L.A. TIMES, 4/10).
