MARKETPLACE ROUND-UP

SFX Sports' David Falk told the SPORTSBUSINESS
JOURNAL's Liz Mullen that Michael Jordan "will participate
in" ad campaigns again but "only for companies in which he
has an ownership stake." Falk: "He's going to continue to
make commercials, but he is going to make commercials for
companies he has a significant ownership position in or for
products that he has a significant design role in, like
[Nike's] Brand Jordan or [Bijan Fragrances's] Jordan
Cologne" (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 4/10)....In Detroit, Chris
McCosky wrote that Raptors F Vince Carter "doesn't want to
add any additional fuel to the on-going comparisons" to
Jordan, "so he plans to ask" Pistons F Grant Hill "if he can
buy" Hill's No. 15 jersey number for the U.S. Olympic
basketball team, instead of wearing the No. 9 jersey that
Jordan used in '84 & '92. Hill: "Everything is negotiable.
Have his people call my people. We'll see if we can work
something out" (DETROIT NEWS, 4/9)....The Magic wore T-
shirts over their jerseys during warmups yesterday as part
of the NBA's league-wide campaign against child abuse
(DAYTONA NEWS JOURNAL, 4/10)....The Univ. of Notre Dame
"will ban the manufacture of its products in at least" 13
countries that "do not guarantee the rights of workers to
form unions." Manufacturers "cannot sell" Notre Dame goods
produced in those countries after June 30, 2001 (AP, 4/8).
...In Chicago, Steve Rosenbloom writes that the "current
coolest thing in sports is Susan Sarandon doing voiceover
promos" for ESPN's NHL coverage (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 4/10).
