COMERICAN BEAUTY: TIGERS HOPE FOR RECORD SEASON TICKET SALES

Tickets for the Tigers' inaugural season at Comerica
Park "are in such demand" that the team's season attendance
record "could fall" in 2000, according to Mark Puls of the
DETROIT NEWS. The Tigers have already sold 1.6 million
tickets with 14 days left until their first game at Comerica
Park on April 11 against the Mariners. The team's season
attendance record of 2.7 million was set in '87 when it won
its last divisional title. Roughly 10,000-20,000 tickets
and "as many as" 700 ticket packages covering 20 games are
being sold each week, and the team has sold 16,000 season
tickets so far, up from 11,490 last year. The Tigers drew
around two million last season at Tiger Stadium, and if they
sell out every seat at Comerica Park this year, their
attendance would "hit" 3.2 million (DETROIT NEWS, 3/28).
