WHO SAW THIS COMING? SURVEILLANCE CO. TO SPONSOR GAMES

          FL-based Sensormatic Electronics Corp. has signed to
     become the Official Electronic Security Sponsor for the 2002
     Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City, and
     the 2000, 2002 and 2004 U.S. Olympic Teams.  Under the deal,
     Sensormatic will be the exclusive supplier of integrated
     electronic security systems for the 2002 Games and the U.S.
     Olympic Training Centers in CO Springs, Chula Vista, CA, and
     Lake Placid, NY. (Sensormatic).  In FL, Stephen Pounds
     writes that Sensormatic "has agreed to pay" $5M in cash over
     five years and provide $10M in services (PALM BEACH POST,
     3/23).  In UT, Lisa Riley Roche wrote that the deal is
     "believed to be worth at least $20M" (DESERET NEWS, 3/22). 
          BRIBERY SCANDAL NOT A CONCERN: Sensormatic President
     Per-Olof Loof said that the company "wasn't deterred" by the
     Olympic bribery scandal.  Loof: "There are few things in the
     world that have survived all the trauma better than the
     Olympic movement" (Ft. Lauderdale SUN-SENTINEL, 3/23).
