update on Lakers-Heat. The first non-NBA report, at 3:30
into the broadcast, was on Seton Hall Univ. G Shaheen
Holloway's ankle injury. Last night's 11:00pm ET edition of
CNN/SI's "Sports Tonight" led with Lakers-Heat, followed by
76ers-Hornets. The first non-NBA report, at 4:42, was
Capitals-Blues. Last night's 11:00pm ET edition of ESPN's
"SportsCenter" also led with Lakers-Heat, followed by 76ers-
Hornets. The first non-NBA report, at 4:10, was an update
on the injury to Seton Hall's Holloway (THE DAILY).
NOTES: In Toronto, William Houston reports that the
Canadian Radio-TV & Telecom Commission is "expected to
announce this week its decision" on CTV's proposed purchase
of NetStar Communications, "which includes the prize
property TSN." Industry sources "predict CTV will be
allowed to keep TSN, but forced to sell" CTV SportsNet, its
"own sports cable channel" (Toronto GLOBE & MAIL, 3/21).
...In Dallas, Barry Horn reports that the MLB Rangers and
FSN have "worked out a" $200M deal that "would allow" FSN,
which already owns Rangers' cable rights, "to control the
over-the-air rights as well." But MLB "has yet to sign off
on the deal," as there "apparently" are "some issues
relating to the right to stream video over the Internet"

BIA Research study showing that WFAN-AM in N.Y. "topped the
radio money charts" with $60.8M in total revenue in '99, a
10% gain over '98 (ADWEEK, 3/17)....Execs of the soccer Web
site goalnetwork.com were in Seattle last week "looking for
additional investment" to expand their site. Goalnetwork
CEO Craig Stoehr: "We're currently on a road show, doing our
