FRANCHISE NOTES

KROENKE PARTNER? The ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS' Steve Caulk
writes that MO real estate developer Mike Staenberg, who
"surfaced" with Rams Minority Partner Stan Kroenke as the
"latest prospective" buyers of the Nuggets, Avalanche and
Pepsi Center, "visited Denver recently enough to determine
that the Pepsi Center, which opened in October, is
'beautiful.'" Staenberg and Kroenke are partners in THF
Realty in Columbia, MO (ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS, 3/16).
NOTES: In DC, John Mitchell writes that Wizards
President of Basketball Operations Michael Jordan "has kept
a very low profile around the team and in the Washington
area in general." Mitchell: "Never mind Waldo -- where's
Michael?" Jordan, on attending MCI Center: "I will pick and
choose my times" (WASHINGTON TIMES, 3/16)...In an "attempt
to lure fans," new CFL Argos Owner Sherwood Schwarz has
"trumpeted several marketing ideas," including his "Lucky
Looney" program, whereby one fan at each home game "will win
a loonie for every person in attendance." If 30,000 fans
were to show up, "someone would go home [C]$30,000 richer"
(TORONTO SUN, 3/16). Schwarz has also cut ticket prices, as
the top-price ticket "has been dropped" to C$35, a reduction
of "more than" 14%, while season tickets "have been cut"
     from C$355 to C$289 (TORONTO STAR, 3/16).
