PRESSURE MOUNTS ON RED SOX TO OFFER BALLPARK FINANCE PLAN

MA state officials "are pressing" Red Sox CEO John
Harrington to "quickly detail his plan to pay for the team's
proposed" $600M Fenway Park project, according to Meg
Vaillancourt of the BOSTON GLOBE. State Rep. Michael Ruane,
who chairs a special committee formed to review ballpark
plans, said that the team "probably needs to file a
financial plan within two weeks if it expects the
Legislature to act before its scheduled adjournment, in
July." Ruane: "If they don't have a financial plan in front
of us by April 1, it may be too late to act on it this year"
(BOSTON GLOBE, 3/16). One state government source suggested
to the BOSTON HERALD that the team is "in a panic" over the
impact that Boston's "Big Dig" development's estimated $1.4B
cost overrun could have on the availability of public funds
for the ballpark (BOSTON HERALD, 3/16).
