Univ. at Indianapolis Economics Professor Mark Rosentraub
"presented his views" on a Lambeau Field renovation to Brown
County (WI) execs and said, "Take a little time to think
this through carefully. Don't vote on it without the
details" (GREEN BAY PRESS-GAZETTE, 2/29). Rosentraub, on
the Packers' $295M renovation plan: "The deal that the
Packers have proposed is not the worst deal that any
franchise has ever proposed. That honor probably goes to
St. Louis and Tennessee -- and we may see Cincinnati ...
rise to the top of that stack" (G.B. PRESS-GAZETTE, 2/29).
SCHIEFFER'S WORLD TOUR: In Ft. Worth, Sean Wood reports
that former MLB Rangers President Tom Schieffer submitted a
report to Southwest Sports Group COO Mike Cramer on the
"type of development best suited" for the land around The
Ballpark in Arlington. Schieffer "had at least" 30 stops
before compiling the report (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 2/29).
NOTES: In Phoenix, Alexa Haussler reports that Los
Arcos developer Ellman Cos. hired Denver-based law firm,
Kutak Rock, to "help negotiate a redevelopment agreement"
for a new Coyotes arena in Scottsdale (ARIZONA REPUBLIC,
2/29)....North Gwinnett High School in Suwanee, GA, is using
eBay to sell naming rights to its new baseball field. The
minimum bid is $50,000, with "no takers so far" (USA TODAY,
2/29)....In St. Petersburg, Kyle Parks wrote that Trophy
Suites, a division of Outback Steakhouse, will have 80
suites for rent by mid-March for golf, auto and college
sporting events. Trophy Sports expects $7M in revenue in
its second year (ST. PETERSBURG TIMES, 2/28).
