Duval's four-year, multimillion dollar apparel sponsorship
deal with Mossimo. Wian said the Mossimo line features "a
sleek new look that's in sharp contrast to traditional golf
attire" and that the deal is an "effort to improve" both
parties' "images." Duval, who previously endorsed Tommy
Hilfiger: "I just felt like it was time for something
different. I felt like I fit in just right. It's nice to
be able to inject a little more fashion into our game."
Mossimo Chair Mossimo Giannulli said "the stuff David's
wearing" will hit stores by the end of June ("Biz Buzz,"
2/17)....Dr. Colleen Hacker, sports psychology consultant
for the U.S. women's soccer team, has signed an exclusive
marketing representation deal with Sue Rodin of N.Y.-based
Stars & Strategies (Stars & Strategies)....SFX Sports Group
VP/Tennis Patricio Apey announced the signing of 17-year-old
tennis player Andy Roddick to an exclusive representation
deal (SFX)....Former Broncos TE Shannon Sharpe, who recently
signed with the Ravens, "peddled onion rings" for the Good
Times restaurant in Denver last season, and he was "so good
for business that another series of commercials are to be
filmed next week" (ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS, 2/18).
NOTES: The Lego Company and MLS have partnered to bring
the Lego/MLS Soccer Experience, an interactive, traveling
truck show, to MLS markets this season. The show will
launch at LegoLand California and will hit all 12 MLS
stadiums this season. Additionally, the show will make
stops at the MLS All-Star Game in Columbus in July, at the
MLS Cup in DC in October and also in Toronto (MLS)....A
Boston federal court jury yesterday "stunned" MA-based golf
cleat maker MacNeill Engineering, as it rejected the
company's claim that Trisport's "cleat-locking mechanism
infringed" upon MacNeill's patent. Trisport is a British
company that supplies cleats to Acushnet's FootJoy Worldwide
unit (Greg Gatlin, BOSTON HERALD, 2/18).
