IS BRYDEN LIKELY TO EXTEND SENATORS SALES DEADLINE TODAY?

Senators Chair Rod Bryden will hold a news conference
today at the Corel Centre to announce that the "intensive
season-ticket drive has come up short," according to Donna
Casey of the OTTAWA SUN, who writes that the club announced
its sales drive saw a 68.4% season tickets renewal, 21.6%
short of Bryden's goal of a 90% renewal rate. Senators
President Roy Mlakar said it is "the owner's prerogative"
whether the current number of renewals and new ticket sales
will "push the campaign into overtime." But he added, "I
don't think it's unreasonable to give this community to the
21st of February" (OTTAWA SUN, 2/11). In Ottawa, Allen
Panzeri writes that Senators players met "to explore the
possibility" of buying some season tickets to help keep the
team in Ottawa. Bryden is "widely expected" to announce the
ticket-sales effort will continue (OTTAWA CITIZEN, 2/11).
