          NOTES: ^ = inaugural year of the Mobile Alabama Bowl. 
     ^^ = The BCS format made this year's Sugar Bowl comparable
     to last year's Fiesta Bowl, this year's Orange Bowl to last
     year's Sugar Bowl, and this year's Fiesta Bowl to last
     year's Orange Bowl.  The four BCS bowls, which includes the
     Rose Bowl, finished with a 13.2/23 average, up 4.8% from
     last year's 12.6/21 (THE DAILY).  ABC Sports Dir of PR Mark
     Mandel, on the BCS increase: "Considering that we're only in
     the second year of the BCS, this is extremely encouraging"
