DAN O'DOWD DOESN'T WANT TO SEE A ROCKIE START TO TIX SALES

New Rockies GM Dan O'Dowd said that "just" 63% of the
team's season-ticket holders have renewed for the upcoming
season, according to Bill Scanlon of the ROCKY MOUNTAIN
NEWS. O'Dowd told the Denver Press Club: "The fans' anger
came not from the fact that we lost, but the way we went
about losing. Those days are over." Last year, the Rockies
sold 34,000 season tickets, the most in MLB, but sales of
single-game tickets fell by about a third -- from an average
of 12,000 a game to about 8,000 in '99. Rockies Exec
VP/Baseball Ops Keli McGregor downplayed the 63% figure,
saying, "We were at 64 percent a year ago." McGregor
expects an 85-95% renewal rate (ROCKY MTN NEWS, 1/28).
