AMG SPORTS ACQUIRES HOCKEY COMPANY, INKS JASON KIDD

          AMG SPORTS has "purchased" the Beverly Hills- and     Montreal-based hockey management group CAN-AM and has signed     Suns G JASON KIDD to a representation deal, according to     Jonathan Bing of DAILY VARIETY.  Can-Am will "merge its     business into AMG Sports, folding its client list into AMG's     growing roster of high-profile athletes," which includes     PETE SAMPRAS and Clippers F LAMAR ODOM.  AMG Sports     President JEFF SCHWARTZ said his group is "going to     concentrate on the sports we're presently in, and in the     future we're going to look at getting into other sports like     baseball and golf."  But Schwartz added, "One sport we're     not going to enter into is football," which Bing wrote is     "hardly surprising considering" AMG Founder MICHAEL OVITZ     and his investors have been "unsuccessful in landing" an NFL     franchise in L.A. (DAILY VARIETY, 1/24).
