The Titans' on field success "has resulted in a flood
of calls" for PSLs next season, according to Jim Wyatt of
the Nashville TENNESSEAN. Titans Dir of PSL Marketing &
Sales Skip Fox said that 600 PSLs were sold last week and
"roughly" 3,000 remain for next season. Fox: "It's been
unbelievable. Between Sunday afternoon and 10 p.m. Sunday I
retrieved 250 messages from voice mail. The phones haven't
stopped" (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 1/11).
SUNSHINE STATE FOR DOLPHINS FANS: In Jacksonville, Mike
Bianchi previews Sunday's Dolphins-Jaguars playoff game and
writes that the Dolphins are "clearly the people's choice"
of the three NFL teams in FL, even in Orlando, which is two
hours closer to Jacksonville. In that market, Dolphins' TV
ratings are "regularly" 25% higher than those of the Jags.
WKMG-CBS sports anchor Ryan Baker: "There is clearly an NFL
pecking order in Orlando, and the Jaguars are a distant
third behind the Dolphins and Bucs" (TIMES-UNION, 1/11).
SAFETY FIRST: In Buffalo, Gene Warner wrote that after
the Bills made a "public pledge to make" Ralph Wilson
Stadium "more family-friendly, the evidence strongly
suggests a more concerted crackdown on rowdyism and
obnoxious behavior" during the '99-2000 season. Warner
noted that security officers ejected 966 fans this season,
or an average of 120 per game, a 67% increase from last
season. The number of arrests also "jumped" to 88, up 63%
from 54 a year ago. Bills Exec VP/Administration Bill
Duffy: "I'm satisfied where we've gotten to, but we need to
stay on top of it and get better" (BUFFALO NEWS, 1/10).
VIKINGS TIX $$ ON THE RISE ... AGAIN: In Minneapolis,
Kent Youngblood reports that for the fifth time in the past
seven years, the Vikings "will raise" ticket prices.
Tickets will now range from $23.50 to $65.50, up from the
$20-60 range this season. Youngblood: "The increase ranges
from 17.5 percent at the low end to 9.1 percent for top-
priced tickets" (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 1/11).
