In San Diego, Philip LaVelle wrote that the Padres
ballpark project "was thrust ... into complex new legal
territory: an antitrust lawsuit." The 21-page lawsuit --
which was filed on behalf of the AFJR Partnership LP, a CA-
based limited partnership consisting of members of the Frost
family, whose property "comprises" 100,000 square feet in
the ballpark district, "accuses" the city of San Diego's
redevelopment agency of "conspiring to fix land prices in a
bid to artificially lower real-estate values" in the
downtown ballpark district, an area which is "experiencing
inflation" (S.D. UNION-TRIBUNE, 12/9)....Conseco Fieldhouse
will host the Big Ten men's basketball tournament in 2002
and '04. As part of a five-year rotation, Chicago's United
Center will host the event in 2001, '03 and '05
(INDIANAPOLIS STAR, 12/10)....ESPN's Mark Malone reported on
the attendance woes of the Titans during their transition
from Houston to Nashville and said that the team, "after
posting the [NFL's] worst attendance records the past two
seasons" while at Memphis' Liberty Bowl in '97 and
Nashville's Vanderbilt Stadium in '98, now has a "home
following [at Adelphia Coliseum] that will rival any" in the
league. This season, "there has not been one unsold seat at
Adelphia Coliseum," which is "rapidly becoming known as the
loudest outdoor stadium" in the league ("NFL 2Night," 12/9).
