Houston's NFL expansion franchise "will begin selling"
41,000 PSLs tomorrow for the 69,500-seat stadium "scheduled
to open" in 2002, according to John Williams of the HOUSTON
CHRONICLE, who reports that the PSLs -- which are priced
from $600 for an end zone seat to $3,900 for a lower
midfield seat -- "allow the buyer to own the seat as long as
he or she buys season tickets." PSL funds will pay for $50M
of the "budgeted" $310M stadium, with groundbreaking on the
facility "adjacent to" the Astrodome set for March 8. The
"remaining" 40% of the tickets at the stadium "will be sold"
in the upper decks on a "season or individual game basis."
NC-based Muhleman Marketing President Max Muhleman said that
PSL holders in Houston "should have greater value in future
years" because of the "relative scarcity" of the PSLs.
Williams writes that if Houston is granted a Super Bowl, PSL
holders will "be included in a lottery for a smaller
selection of tickets" to the game. The names of the
"founding PSL owners will be etched on a 'wall of honor'"
inside the stadium (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 11/24).
