During Sunday's NASCAR Napa 500 race in Atlanta,
ESPN.com will "offer three in-car camera shots shown only
online -- with viewers allowed to choose which shots they
want," according to USA TODAY's Michael Hiestand. Disney
will put the "cameras in cars adding logos for its new Toy
Story 2 movie, with online viewers hyped on the movie's
merchandise" (USA TODAY, 11/19). At the race, the Johnny
Benson-driven No. 26 Cheerios Ford will feature "Woody's
Roundup" paint scheme touting "Toy Story 2" (Cheerios).
RIVALS.COM TAKE BIG STEPS: SI's John Walters profiles
Rivals.com, which is "already one of the most popular
sportals on the Web." According to Nielsen/Net Ratings, the
site has a 76% male viewership, and at an average of about
48.5 minutes per monthly viewer, it's the "stickiest"
sportal on the Web. In a sidebar, Walters notes Anna
Kournikova's new site at www.kournikova.com. Her marketing
agency, Octagon, is "hoping to secure the rights to site
names currently owned by other parties, such as
www.kournikova.org (SPORTS ILLUSTRATED, 11/22 issue).
ROSE TO PROMOTE SPORTCUT.COM: Worldwide Entertainment &
Sports Corp.'s athlete lifestyle site, sportcut.com, has
signed Pete Rose to do promotional activity around the
site's launch later this month (Sportcut.com). Sportcut
Chair Charles Koppelman said that Rose "will maximize the
effort" by making appearances on CBS' "The Early Show" and
the "Howard Stern Show." Koppelman said Rose will be
"making major announcements" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 11/19).
