GALLOWAY'S BLACK EYE? NFL SAYS NO TO JOEY'S AD MOVE

The NFL has informed the Seahawks that WR Joey Galloway
is not allowed to wear patches under his eye bearing
corporate marks unapproved by the league, as he did during
last Sunday night's game against the Broncos (see THE DAILY,
11/16). Galloway wore black eye patches branded with the
logo of WI-based Mueller Sports Medicine. The Seahawks said
that they were not aware of the commercial ID on the patches
and that Galloway would not wear the patches again. NFL
VP/Communications Greg Aiello told THE DAILY the "issue is
commercial identification on the field" -- any commercial ID
must be approved by the league. Aiello said the NFL will
not levy any fines as a result of the incident. Mueller
Sports Medicine VP/Consumer Products Herb Raschka told THE
DAILY that the company does not have an endorsement deal
with Galloway or any pro athlete. He added that Mueller had
received around 500 calls since Galloway wore the eye
patches on Sunday night (THE DAILY).
