THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS, BUT THEY HAVE A SENSE OF HISTORY

The MLB Giants introduced new uniforms for next season,
which feature the return of "narrow black-and-orange piping
around the neck and sleeves and down the side of the pants,"
according to Sam Whiting of the S.F. CHRONICLE, who writes
that the "biggest change is a return from bright white to
cream as the home color." The team will no longer feature
players' names on the back of the home jerseys. Team COO
Larry Baer said that removing the names signals the club's
intention to "keep the same guys around here" long enough
for fans remember their numbers. Manager Dusty Baker:
"Right away, that's going to help sales of the programs to
find out who these guys are." Whiting reports that the logo
and numbers "are in standard lettering." The road jerseys
are gray and feature the players' names on the back, along
with "San Francisco" across the front (S.F. CHRONICLE,
11/16). In Contra Costa, Joe Roderick writes that the new
uniforms "offer the traditional look" of the '50s and '60s
(CONTRA COSTA TIMES, 11/16). See http://www.sfgiants.com
