Freestyle motocross athlete TRAVIS PASTRANA appeared on
last night's "Late Show" with DAVID LETTERMAN. Pastrana was
to perform some stunts live, but during rehearsals, he
crashed his bike, so the show instead showed highlights from
rehearsals. Pastrana, who participated in both the X Games
and the Gravity Games, on which event was better: "They were
both very good events, but the Gravity Games was a much
better track and everyone was really cool. ... Providence,
[RI], was probably the best freestyle event we've ever been
to." Pastrana, on launching his bike into the S.F. Bay
during the X Games competition: "Yes, that would have been
where the EPA got a little upset" (CBS, 11/11).
Buffalo native and film director ROBERT LIEBERMAN is
directing the TNT movie, "SECOND STRING," in which a
"fictional group of second-string" Bills win the Super Bowl
in New Orleans. Liberman: "It may be the only way they win
one." Bills Owner RALPH WILSON has approved of the film and
some players will make appearances. It will air sometime
next fall (BUFFALO NEWS, 11/11)....MICHAEL JORDAN is listed
as No. 80 on ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY's list of the 100 Greatest
Entertainers of the Century (EW)...The NBA has created the
2000 in 2000 Partnership, a joint effort between the league
and Youth Service America, the Corporation of National
Service and America's Promise -- The Alliance For Youth to
help provide resources to youth who work in community
service. The partnership is an extension of the NBA TeamUp
2000 in 2000 Pledge, where each team plans to motivate 2,000
young people to conduct community service (NBA).
