          Orange County Register sportswriter DAVID OSTERMAN died
     of cardiac arrest Tuesday at the age of 48. Osterman covered
     USC athletics, the Angels and Dodgers and track & field
     (ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER, 11/10)....RONNIE LOTT and MARCUS
     ALLEN are in Federal Court in DC this week for a breach-of-
     contract suit they filed against the NFLPA that alleged the
     association "backed out" of a deal for Lott and Allen's
     SUPER PARTY INC. to stage parties for the NFLPA (WASHINGTON
     POST, 11/11)....At ROSIE O'DONNELL's second annual "WHITE
     ROSE AWARDS" gala, MICHAEL JORDAN submitted a "winning bid
     of $50,000 for a walk-on part on 'ALLY MCBEAL' and another"
     $110,000 for a 3-D painting by CHARLES FAZZINO (N.Y. DAILY
     NEWS, 11/11).  On "ET," Mary Hart reported on the Jordan
     being honored by O'Donnell for "their work with children's
     charities" (ET, 11/10)....Contrary to published reports,
     GRANT HILL said he will not attend Sunday's fund raiser for
     Democratic presidential candidate BILL BRADLEY at MSG (See
     THE DAILY, 11/10).  Hill: "I was invited and I would have
     liked to go, but you do that stuff in the off-season
     (DETROIT NEWS, 11/11)....BOB MCNAIR has paid $5.5M for the
     WHITNEY ESTATE in Saratoga Springs, NY.  McNair and his wife
     JANICE will spend summers in Saratoga during racing season
     (HOUSTON BUSINESS JOURNAL, 11/8 issue).
          ON THE TRACK: YOUBET.COM has "voluntarily suspended the
     reception and transmission of wagering information" from CA
     residents in "cooperation with an investigation" by the L.A.
     County DA's office.  A company spokesperson said that
     Youbet.com is "looking at opening a new facility 'in a state
     where the laws are crystal clear'" (WALL STREET JOURNAL,
     11/11)....Magna Int'l Chair FRANK STRONACH's new business
     ventures are profiled in the TORONTO STAR.  Stronach "wants
     his new company," MI Entertainment, "to move aggressively
     into online wagering" (TORONTO STAR, 11/11)....As former TVG
     and NTRA exec RICK BAEDEKER begins his new post as President
     of Hollywood Park, some insiders see his "quick departure
     from both organizations as a sign he sees trouble ahead" for
     the NTRA and TVG.  But Baedeker said, "I practically grew up
     at Hollywood Park.  This job is the only one that could have
     brought me back here" (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 11/10).
