HITTING THE SLOPES ON THE WEB: VAIL ACQUIRES INTERNET FIRMS

          Vail Resorts will acquire ISP VailNet, along with
     Internet site hosting firm InterNetWorks, to "improve its
     marketing and e-commerce services," according to Stephen
     Keating of the DENVER POST.  VailNet serves 5,600
     subscribers, while InterNetWorks has 300 clients.  Vail
     Resorts Chair & Chief Adam Aron: "The Internet has proven to
     be a critical sales and marketing tool for our business. 
     Last year, over 50 percent of visitors to Vail, Beaver
     Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone used the Internet to
     research our resorts and communities."  ING Barings LLC
     Managing Dir Barry Rothberg: "Vail is trying to solidify
     their reservation strategy" (DENVER POST, 10/26).
