ATHLETE'S FOOT CREAM OF THE CROP: AAU SIGNS NEW PARTNER

Novartis Consumer Health has inked a "wide-ranging
three-year deal" with the AAU around its Lamisil AT
athlete's foot cream brand, according to David Goetzl of AD
AGE. Lamisil, which is "positioned" as the athlete's foot
cream "for the high-performance athlete," will serve as
sponsor of the AAU's James E. Sullivan Award, given annually
to the "country's top amateur athlete." The deal also
includes banner ads on the AAU's Web site, the opportunity
for signage at the Junior Olympic Games and rights to the
organization's marks in ads. Other AAU sponsors include
Nextel, Rawlings, the WNBA and SI For Women. Novartis is
"hoping the AAU tie-in will create awareness for Lamisil
among athletes at an early age," as well as parents and
coaches. Novartis will continue to link its Lamisil brand
with the NYC Marathon, as it signed a two-year sponsorship
extension worth about $200,000 annually (AD AGE, 9/27).
