FACILITY NOTES

In N.Y., Bill Pennington writes that "all signs" point
"toward the approval of a tray-system grass field" at Giants
Stadium for the 2000 football and soccer seasons (N.Y.
TIMES, 9/29). The "initial installation" of a grass field
is expected to be "more than" $3M, with annual maintenance
     "estimated" at $400,000 (Newark STAR-LEDGER, 9/29)....The
Packers will "pull out the high-tech" SportGrass at Lambeau
Field and "replace it with natural grass." The decision was
made when the team "realized" that the SportGrass "wasn't
regenerating sufficiently." Packers President Bob Harlan
said the team will have to pay for the replacement, but he
"wasn't sure how much that would total" (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL
SENTINEL, 9/29).....The Toronto City Council "gave final
approval" for a C$32M renovation of the Coliseum at
Exhibition Place. The move "cleared the way" for the owners
of the IHL's former Phoenix Roadrunners to move the team to
Toronto for the 2000-2001 season (TORONTO SUN, 9/29).
